This document specifies the immunity requirements, test methods, and recommended test level ranges for equipment subject to pulsed magnetic field interference primarily from the following sources: — Industrial facilities; — Power plants; — Railway facilities; — Medium- and high-voltage substations. The applicability of this document to equipment installed in different locations is determined by the phenomena described in Chapter 4. This document does not consider interference caused by capacitive and inductive coupling in cables or other parts of on-site facilities. Conductive interference related to this is addressed in other standards. The purpose of this document is to establish a general guideline for evaluating the immunity of electrical and electronic equipment to pulsed magnetic fields. The test methods specified in this document describe a consistent method for assessing the immunity of equipment or systems to defined electromagnetic phenomena.
