Scope

This document describes the method of exposing coatings in a test equipment configured with fluorescent UV lamps, heat, and water, which is used to simulate the climate aging effects of materials exposed to sunlight or sunlight through window glass in their actual end-use environments. The coatings are exposed to different types of fluorescent UV lamps under controlled environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and/or water). Different types of fluorescent UV lamps can be used to meet the testing requirements of different test materials. The preparation of samples and evaluation of results for specific materials refer to other documents. General guidelines are provided in ISO 16474-1. Note: For the exposure of plastics to fluorescent UV lamps, refer to ISO 4892-3.
