GB/T 6829-2024 General safety requirements for residual current operated protective devices

Scope

This document specifies the minimum requirements, recommendations, and information for drafting standards for residual current operated protective devices (hereinafter referred to as "residual current protective devices", RCDs). This document applies to any electrical appliance that provides residual current protection, primarily used to prevent the risk of electric shock.
Note 1: This document does not include residual current monitors (RCMs) that comply with IEC 62020. Their purpose is to monitor electrical devices rather than providing protection, and they cannot be considered similar or equivalent to RCDs.
Note 2: RCDs for DC systems are under consideration.
Note 3: The correspondence between the provisions and modules of this document is shown in Appendix C.
Note 4: The relationship between RCD product standards and this document is shown in Appendix D.
This document is primarily used as a reference for drafting product safety standards for "RCDs" or "residual current protective devices", which are used for general purposes and are also installed or embedded in equipment.
This document also serves as a reference for specifying the design requirements and applicable test procedures for RCDs installed or embedded in equipment.
This common safety publication is primarily intended for use by technical committees in preparing standards in accordance with the principles set out in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51, and is not intended for use by manufacturers or certification bodies.
One of the responsibilities of technical committees is to use common safety publications when preparing publications, where applicable. Unless explicitly mentioned or included in the relevant publications, the requirements, test methods, or test conditions of this common safety publication do not apply.
