Scope

This part specifies the evaluation methods used to test medical imaging display systems.
The scope of this part refers to experiments that can be judged visually or measured using basic experimental equipment. Tests conducted with more advanced or more quantitative equipment are not within the scope of this part.
This part applies to medical imaging display systems that display image information in color or grayscale. This part applies to medical imaging interpretation for diagnosis (for making clinical diagnoses) or observation (for observing medical images for medical purposes rather than providing medical image interpretation), thus having special requirements for image quality. Head-mounted imaging display systems and imaging display systems used for determining positioning and operating these systems are not included in the scope of this part. Handheld imaging display systems may require additional or modified versions of the steps described in this part.
This part does not include requirements for defining acceptance tests and stability tests, or requirements for the frequency of stability tests.
