GB/T 17888.1-2020 Safety of machinery—Permanent means of access to machinery—Part 1:Choice of fixed means and general requirements of access

Scope

This part of GB/T 17888 specifies the general requirements for access to fixed machinery, and provides guidance on how to properly select access facilities when it is necessary to access fixed machinery but it is not possible to do so directly from the ground, floor, or platform.
This part applies to permanent access facilities that are components of fixed machinery, as well as to non-powered adjustable components (such as foldable or sliding ones) and movable components of fixed access facilities.
Note 1: "Fixed" access facilities refer to those that can only be removed with tools after installation (e.g., by screws, nuts, or welding).
The minimum requirements specified in this part also apply to similar access facilities in buildings where machines are installed (such as work platforms, walkways, or fixed ladders), provided that the main function of such facilities is to facilitate access to machinery.
Note 2: If no other standards apply, this part also applies to access facilities outside the scope of this part.
This part should be used in conjunction with other parts of GB/T 17888.
GB/T 17888 applies to fixed machinery and mobile machinery equipped with fixed access facilities, but not to powered access facilities such as elevators, escalators, or other devices specifically designed for lifting people between two levels.
