Scope

This document provides guidelines for the assessment of the flammability of electrical and electronic products and their materials. It includes the following aspects: a) the principle of flammability; b) the selection of appropriate test methods; c) the use and interpretation of test results. This document is applicable to the assessment of the flammability of electrical and electronic products and the materials used in them, as well as their potential fire hazard. This document is intended for use by technical committees when preparing standards in accordance with the principles set out in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51. One of the tasks of the technical committee is to use this series of standards wherever applicable when preparing standards in this field. Unless specifically mentioned or listed in the relevant standards, the requirements, test methods, or test conditions of this document will not apply.
