Scope

This document stipulates the basic requirements for the safety assessment of elevators in use, including assessment agencies, assessment procedures, assessment items and content, and requirements for assessment reports. This document applies to traction-driven passenger and freight elevators with a rated speed of no more than 6.0m/s, hydraulic-driven passenger and freight elevators with a rated speed of no more than 1.0m/s, as well as the safety assessment of escalators and automatic walkways. For the safety assessment of elevators after disasters (earthquakes, floods, and fires), and the safety assessment of elevators installed in existing residential buildings, this document can be used as a reference. This document does not apply to the safety assessment of explosion-proof elevators, service elevators, and inclined elevators.
