Scope

This document specifies two sets of color matching functions used in colorimetry.
a) CIE 1931 Standard Color Observer Color Matching Functions
This set of color matching functions represents the color matching characteristics of observers with normal color vision under the level of brightness adaptation, within a field of view of approximately 1° to 4°.
b) CIE 1964 Standard Color Observer Color Matching Functions
This set of color matching functions represents the color matching characteristics of observers with normal color vision under sufficiently high levels of brightness adaptation, within a field of view greater than approximately 4°, and under the condition that the spectral power distribution does not cause the involvement of retinal rod cell receptors.
This document is applicable to the measurement, calculation, and evaluation of luminous and non-luminous colors.
