Scope

1.1 Structure of the Metadata Registration System
This document specifies the information recorded in the metadata registration system in the form of a conceptual data model:
—— Chapter 5 defines the modeling method for the metadata registration system;
—— Chapter 6 defines the core model of the registration system, including basic types and classes that need to be reused when extending the model. The core model defines a generic "registration system item", and any item that needs to be registered can derive subclasses from it;
—— Chapter 7 defines the meta-model for the identification of registration system items;
—— Chapter 8 defines the meta-model for the assertions and definitions of registration system items;
—— Chapter 9 defines the meta-model for the registration of registration system items;
—— Chapter 10 defines the meta-model for the classification of registration system items;
—— Chapter 11 defines the meta-model for the mapping between registration system items.
1.2 Model Extensions
Other parts of ISO/IEC 11179 extend the core model to support additional functions, including:
—— ISO/IEC 11179-31 provides a meta-model for the registration of data specifications, including support for data elements, data element concepts, concept domains, and value domains;
—— ISO/IEC 11179-32 provides a meta-model for the registration of concept systems, including support for concept systems and ontologies;
—— ISO/IEC 11179-33 provides a meta-model for the registration of data sets;
—— ISO/IEC 11179-34 provides a meta-model for the registration of computable data;
—— ISO/IEC 11179-35 provides a meta-model for the registration of models.
