Scope

This standard applies to ultrasonic guided wave testing of steel pressure pipelines with a material of carbon steel or low-alloy steel, a diameter greater than or equal to 32 mm, and a workpiece thickness less than or equal to 30 mm.
This standard uses single-slant probe guided waves with a nominal frequency greater than or equal to 0.5 MHz and less than or equal to 2.0 MHz to detect surface and internal defects of the base metal of steel pressure pipelines, mainly to identify the presence of volumetric and surface defects.
Metal materials or metal components (such as pressure vessels) outside the specified range can be implemented as a reference.
This standard does not establish evaluation criteria. Specific criteria shall be determined through consultation between the testing party and the user.
