Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies a naming system for thermoplastic polyoxymethylene (POM) molding and extrusion materials, which can serve as a basis for classification.
Note: Polyoxymethylene materials are thermoplastic materials mainly composed of homopolymers and copolymers synthesized from formaldehyde. The repeating units in the molecular chain are -CH2O-, which are components of the main polymer chain produced by formaldehyde polymerization.
Different types of polyoxymethylene materials are distinguished by specified characteristic performance values (melt mass flow rate or melt volume flow rate, tensile modulus), as well as basic polymer parameters, recommended uses, processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials, etc., based on a classification system.
This document applies to all materials containing polyoxymethylene homopolymers, copolymers, and blends of polyoxymethylene. It applies to general powdered, granular, or sheet materials, as well as unmodified materials and those modified with colorants, additives, fillers, etc. This document does not imply that materials with the same name must have the same performance.
This document does not provide engineering data, performance data, and processing conditions for specific materials in end applications. When necessary, these additional properties can be determined using the test methods specified in relevant international standards.
