GB/T 17498.1-2026 Indoor stationary training equipment—Part 1:General safety requirements and test methods

Scope

This document specifies the classification and general safety requirements for indoor fixed fitness equipment (hereinafter referred to as fitness equipment), and describes the corresponding test methods. Other parts of GB/T 17498 may modify the requirements in this document. This document also includes environmental factors.
This document applies to all indoor fixed fitness equipment, including venues where the owner (the person legally responsible) specifically regulates the use and management of the equipment, such as: sports associations, educational institutions, hotels, gyms, clubs, rehabilitation centers, and studio (Category S and Category I) training areas; it also includes household (Category H) and other types of equipment, including electric equipment, as specified in 3.1. The additional special requirements of other parts of GB/T 17498 take precedence over the corresponding requirements in this document.
This document does not apply to outdoor fixed fitness equipment, nor to fitness equipment used by children under the age of 14, unless it is used for teaching purposes under the guidance of qualified adults in schools or other teaching environments.
