This standard specifies the minimum performance requirements and test methods for the driving brake system, auxiliary brake system, and parking brake system of wheeled and high-speed rubber-tracked earthmoving machinery, in order to conduct a unified evaluation of these brake systems.
This standard applies to the following earthmoving machinery that operate on construction sites or in mines, or travel on roads:
——Self-propelled rubber-tired earthmoving machinery defined in ISO 6165;
——Self-propelled rollers and backfill compactors defined in ISO 6165 and ISO 8811;
——Bulldozers defined in ISO 7133;
——Remote-controlled wheeled or rubber-tracked machines defined in ISO 6165;
——Derived machinery of rubber-tired earthmoving machinery;
——Rubber-tracked earthmoving machinery with a maximum speed of not less than 20 km/h.
This standard does not apply to walking-controlled earthmoving machinery (see ISO 17063) or steel or rubber-tracked earthmoving machinery with a speed of less than 20 km/h (see ISO 10265). Special machinery for underground mining is not within the scope of this standard, but the general provisions of this standard can be applied to these machines after some modifications and additions to the brake performance (see Appendix A).
