This document specifies the requirements for data acquisition, communication, alarm and protection, control, energy state estimation, balancing, insulation resistance detection, insulation voltage withstand, electrical adaptability, and electromagnetic compatibility of battery management systems (abbreviated as "BMS") used in power storage applications. It describes the corresponding test methods and stipulates requirements for classification and coding, normal operating environments, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage. This document applies to the design, manufacture, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of battery management systems for lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, lead-acid (carbon) batteries, flow batteries, and hydrogen production/fuel cells using water electrolysis. Other types of battery management systems may refer to this document for implementation.
