GB/T 33588.3-2020 Lightning protection system components(LPSC)—Part 3:Requirements for isolating spark gaps (ISG)
Abstract
This part of GB/T 33588 specifies the requirements and test methods for the isolation discharge gap (ISG) of lightning protection systems.
Some metal facilities are not allowed to be directly electrically connected to lightning protection systems due to their functional requirements. Therefore, ISG can be used to establish an indirect electrical connection between lightning protection systems and these metal facilities.
Typical applications include connections to the following facilities:
——Grounding systems of power facilities;
——Grounding systems of telecommunications systems;
——Rail grounding electrodes of AC and DC railway systems;
——Grounding electrodes for laboratory measurements;
——Devices with cathodic protection and stray current systems;
——User entry poles of low-voltage overhead cables;
——Insulated flanges or insulated joints at both ends of pipelines.
This part does not include applications involving inrush current.
Note: Lightning protection system components (LPSC) are also applicable to hazardous environments, such as fire and explosive environments. Components installed in such conditions need to consider the necessary additional requirements.
