This document describes the A F/R class test method used to evaluate the ability of vertically installed bundled wires and cables to suppress the vertical spread of flames under specified conditions. This document is applicable to power cables with a conductor cross-section greater than 35 mm2, which are installed intermittently in front and behind the test steel ladder to achieve a total nominal volume of 7 L/m for the non-metallic materials contained in the specimens. The fire supply time is 40 minutes. This installation method is used for special cables required to be used in special devices in the cable specifications. The A F/R class is not suitable for ordinary cables. This test is used for type approval testing. The selection requirements for test cables are described in Appendix A. The spread of flames is measured by the damage range of the cable specimens. This test procedure can be used to verify the ability of cables to suppress the spread of flames. The recommended performance requirements are given in Appendix B. Note: In this document, the term "wires and cables" includes all metal conductor insulated cables used for power or signal transmission.
