Abstract
This document specifies the requirements and recommendations related to the Automated Infrastructure Management (AIM) system.
This document explains how the AIM system can help improve operational efficiency, and it applies to:
a) the management of cabling infrastructure and its connecting devices;
b) equipment and IT management processes and systems;
c) other network-related management processes and systems (such as intelligent building systems);
d) business information systems that include asset tracking, asset management, and alerts and warnings about events related to the physical layer of the network.
For AIM systems that support the optional function of remote power supply, this document provides additional management requirements and recommendations.
This document specifies the requirements and recommendations for data exchange with other systems.
