本文件规定了与自动化基础设施管理(AIM)系统相关的要求及建议。
本文件解释了AIM系统是如何能有助于提高运行效率，适用于：
a) 布缆基础设施及其连接设备的管理；
b) 设备与IT管理流程及系统；
c) 其他与网络相关的管理流程及系统(如智能楼宇系统)；
d) 内含资产追踪、资产管理以及网络物理层安全相关事件提醒与警报的业务信息系统。
对于支持提供远程供电可选功能的AIM系统，本文件给出了补充管理要求和建议。
本文件规定了与其他系统进行数据交换的要求和建议的框架。
