GB/T 4732.4-2024 Pressure vessels design by analysis—Part 4:Stress classification method
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies a stress classification design method based on elastic stress analysis and plastic failure criteria to prevent plastic collapse failure, local excessive strain failure, ratchet failure, and fatigue failure of containers. This document is applicable to thin-walled shells that are in an elastic state or have locally entered a plastic state but are still in an overall elastic state, or to pressure-bearing structures primarily composed of thin-walled shells. For thick-walled structures (such as cylinders with R/δ ≤ 4), using the stress classification method may yield uncertain results, and in this case, it is advisable to adopt the analysis method specified in GB/T 4732.5. Note: Unless otherwise specified, this document is only applicable to design temperatures lower than the temperature at which the allowable stress of the material is controlled by its creep limit or endurance strength.
