YY/T 0734.1-2009 Washer-disinfectors—Part 1:General requirements,terms and definitions and tests
Basic Information
Scope
This part of YY/T 0734 specifies the general requirements, term definitions, and tests for automatically controlled cleaning and disinfection devices and their accessories. This part applies to cleaning and disinfection devices used for reusable medical devices and items in medical institutions, pharmaceutical, veterinary, and other fields. The requirements and tests for cleaning and disinfection devices handling special loads are specified in other parts of YY/T 0734 or other standards.
This part does not apply to cleaning and disinfection equipment used in the laundry or catering industries.
This part also does not apply to equipment used for sterilizing loads or equipment designated as "sterilizers", the requirements for which are specified in other standards, such as: GB 8599—2008.
The performance requirements specified in this part may not ensure the inactivation or removal of the pathogenic agent of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (prion protein).
Note: If it is believed that prion protein may be present, special attention must be paid to the selection of disinfectants and cleaning agents to ensure that the chemicals used do not react with prion protein, thereby not inhibiting the inactivation or removal effect.
