Scope

This document describes the seismic testing of cabinets and racks that comply with the IEC 60917 (all parts) and IEC 60297 (all parts) series. It applies only to the mechanical structures of electronic equipment cabinets and racks that fully or partially comply with the standards of the aforementioned series, and not to the electronic equipment or systems installed within these mechanical structures. This document does not apply to cabinets or racks with seismic isolation structures, nor to external or internal seismic isolation structures. This document aims to provide test conditions and standards as a reference for evaluating the ability of the mechanical structures of cabinets or racks to withstand specific earthquake intensities. To this end, this document specifies sample conditions such as the dimensions (i.e., height, width, and depth) of cabinets and racks, load distribution, structural test conditions, and the RRS (required response spectrum) of uniaxial or triaxial acceleration as waveform conditions for seismic testing. Uniaxial or triaxial testing is optional.
