Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, models and specifications, design requirements, performance requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of firefighters' fire-fighting protective helmets.
This standard applies to protective helmets (hereinafter referred to as helmets) worn by firefighters during fire-fighting and rescue operations.
This standard does not apply to protective helmets for firefighters providing protection during the handling of dangerous chemical accidents.
