Scope

This standard specifies the interoperability test methods for Ethernet-based passive optical networks (EPON) systems with transmission rates of 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps, including the testing methods for basic EPON interoperability, service-bearing related interoperability, and operation, management, and maintenance interoperability. 1) In this standard, 1G/1GEPON is referred to as 1GEPON; 10G/1GEPON and 10G/10GEPON are collectively referred to as 10GEPON, and 1GEPON and 10GEPON are collectively referred to as EPON. This standard applies to EPON devices in FTTH/FTTO scenarios. EPON devices in FTTB scenarios can also be used as a reference.
