Scope

This standard specifies the method of determining the distribution of carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, chromium, nickel, copper, titanium, niobium, molybdenum, vanadium, and aluminum in metals using in situ statistical distribution analysis. This standard is applicable to the determination of the distribution of elements in block-shaped low- and medium-alloy steel samples with a cross-sectional area of 30 mm to 120 mm in length and 30 mm to 120 mm in width, and a height of 10 mm to 50 mm. The maximum analysis area is generally no more than 6,400 mm 2, and the maximum analysis length is no more than 120 mm. The measurement ranges of the mass fractions of each element are shown in Table 1.
