Scope

This part of GB/T 8190 (hereinafter referred to as this part) specifies the test bench measurement and evaluation methods for gas and particulate emissions under steady-state operating conditions of reciprocating internal combustion engines, in order to determine the weighted values of each exhaust pollutant. Various combinations of engine loads and speeds reflect the different uses of the engine (see GB/T 8190.4).
This part is applicable to reciprocating engines for mobile transportation and fixed use, but excludes automotive engines primarily used for road driving. This part of GB/T 8190 is applicable to engines such as earthmoving machinery, generator sets, and engines for other uses.
Under certain circumstances, the engine can be tested on a test bench in accordance with the on-site test standard GB/T 8190.2. However, this can only be done with the agreement of all parties involved. It should be acknowledged that the data obtained under these conditions may not be exactly the same as those obtained from previous or future tests conducted in accordance with this part of GB/T 8190. Therefore, it is recommended that this option be chosen only for engines with very limited production, such as extremely large marine or generator set engines.
For engines used in machinery with additional requirements (e.g., occupational health, safety regulations, power plant procedures), additional test conditions and special evaluation methods may be needed.
When it is not possible to use a test bench or when it is necessary to understand the actual emission status of the engine in use, it is more appropriate to use the on-site test procedures and calculation methods specified in GB/T 8190.2.
