Scope

This standard specifies the instrumented nanoindentation test method for measuring the indentation hardness and elastic modulus of thin films.
This standard is applicable to thin films adhered to solid surfaces. The indentation direction is perpendicular to the surface of the specimen, and the indentation depth range is typically in the nanometer scale, but it can also be extended to several micrometers.
