Scope

1.1 This procedure applies to weights of accuracy grades E1, E2, F1, F2, M1, M12, M2, M23, and M3 ranging from 1 mg to 5,000 kg. Special-purpose weights shall refer to this procedure. In practical use, the nominal value of the weights can be expanded upward or downward within the corresponding accuracy grades as needed.
1.2 This procedure applies to the initial verification (considered as initial verification after repair) and subsequent verification of all types of weights.
1.3 All weights of accuracy grades are traceable to the national reference standard for mass. The definitions of the accuracy grades of weights are as follows.
1.3.1 E1-grade weights: Used for verifying E2-grade weights and corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
1.3.2 E2-grade weights: Used for verifying F1-grade and lower weights and corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
1.3.3 F1-grade weights: Used for verifying F2-grade and lower weights and corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
1.3.4 F2-grade weights: Used for verifying M1-grade, M12-grade, and lower weights and corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
1.3.5 M1-grade weights: Used for verifying M2-grade, M23-grade, and lower weights and corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
1.3.6 M2-grade weights: Used for verifying M3-grade weights and corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
1.3.7 M3-grade weights: Used for verifying corresponding measuring instruments, as well as for use with corresponding measuring instruments.
