GB/T 17040-2008 Standard test method for sulfur in petroleum and petroleum products by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry
Basic Information
Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the test method for determining the sulfur content in petroleum and petroleum products using energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. This standard is applicable to the determination of sulfur content in hydrocarbons, including diesel, naphtha, kerosene, residual oil, lubricating oil base oil, hydraulic oil, jet fuel, crude oil, automotive gasoline, and other distillate oils. In addition, for the sulfur content of other products, such as M85 and M100, this standard can also be used for analysis. The range of sulfur content determined (mass fraction) is from 0.015% to 5.00%. 1.2 This standard uses the International System of Units (SI). The mass fraction of sulfur is expressed as a percentage. 1.3 This standard involves certain hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. However, it does not provide recommendations for all safety issues related to this. Therefore, users need to establish appropriate safety precautions and determine appropriate management systems before using this standard. For some special precautionary instructions, see Chapter 7.
