This document specifies the requirements for assessment agencies of in-use escalators and automatic walkways, safety assessment procedures (including preliminary preparation, risk assessment, determination of comprehensive safety status levels, and measures to reduce risks), and the basic requirements for assessment reports.
This document applies to the safety assessment of in-use escalators and automatic walkways.
Note: In special circumstances (such as when operating in open-air or potentially explosive environments, or when used as emergency exits), additional requirements may need to be considered in addition to the requirements of this document.
