Scope

This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, user's manual, packaging, transportation, and storage requirements for disposable insulin syringes. It includes 40-unit insulin syringes (U-40) and 100-unit insulin syringes (U-100). This standard applies to disposable insulin syringes (hereinafter referred to as syringes) that are immediately injected into the human body after the insulin solution is suctioned. It does not apply to disposable sterile syringes, disposable glass syringes, or syringes pre-filled with medication.
