Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the bending strength and stiffness of straight bone plates, including terms and definitions, instruments and equipment, test procedures, result calculation, and test reports.
This standard applies to straight bone plates, as well as to the straight plate portion of bone plates with a certain angle and bone plates with a small initial bend for preloading the bone during installation.
This standard does not apply to bone plates with a hole spacing of less than 8 mm, nor to bone plates designed to be used with intramedullary devices or to form part of intramedullary devices.
