Scope

This standard specifies the methods for determining the bending strength and stiffness of straight bone plates. It includes terms and definitions, instrumentation and equipment, test procedures, result calculation, and inspection reports. This standard applies to straight bone plates, the straight portions of bone plates with certain angles, and bone plates with a small initial bend for preloading the bone during installation. This standard does not apply to bone plates with a length of less than 50 mm, nor to bone plates designed to be used with intramedullary devices or to form part of intramedullary devices.
