Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the relevant formats and procedures for product material declarations of operating companies in the electronics and electrical industry and their supplier industries, including the materials used in product operation.
Note 1: The declaration provides product information that forms the basis of a database, which can be used to address the following tasks:
— Ensuring compliance with regulations;
— Commercial risk management;
— Meeting product-related market requirements;
— Market information;
— Preparing self-environmental declarations;
— Evaluating the impact of products on people and the environment;

— Information on reprocessing and disassembly;
— Reusing, recycling, and safely disposing of products or product components;
— Implementing supplier audits.

Regulatory compliance involves, for example, regulations that impose restrictions on materials in products, which also apply to those who place products on the market.
Note 3: Product material information can be utilized, for example, for conducting life cycle assessments according to GB/T 24040, or for preparing environmental labels according to GB/T 24020, GB/T 24021, or ISO 14025.
Note 4: This standard does not specify criteria for material selection or independent component declarations.
