Scope

This standard specifies the basic safety requirements, product performance requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, marking, and storage and transportation requirements for concrete high-integrity containers (referred to as "concrete containers") used for packaging low- and medium-level radioactive solid waste. This standard applies to concrete containers used in the preparation, storage, transportation, and disposal of low- and medium-level radioactive solid waste during the management process, but does not apply to containers used for storing high-level radioactive waste or as packaging containers for Type B and Type C packages. This standard applies to the design, manufacture, procurement, and inspection of concrete containers.
