Scope

This standard specifies the basic safety requirements for low- and medium-level radioactive solid waste packages, and sets forth requirements for the storage, disposal, and transportation of such packages. This standard applies to the prepared waste packages of low- and medium-level radioactive solid waste generated during the operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and nuclear technology utilization units. This standard does not apply to the prepared waste packages of radioactive tailings and waste radioactive sources.
