Scope

This standard specifies a conventional method for improving the performance of X-ray fluorescence spectrometric analysis using the "proximate technique".
The "proximate technique" requires at least one target sample (preferably a certified reference material/standard sample (CRM)) that is similar to the composition of the unknown sample.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the silicon, manganese, phosphorus, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, copper, cobalt, vanadium, and titanium contents in high-alloy steel. The measurement ranges for each element are shown in Table 1.
