Basic Information
Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the test method for the electrochemical performance of magnesium alloy sacrificial anodes in a saturated calcium sulfate and magnesium hydroxide medium.
1.2 This standard is applicable to the testing of the electrochemical performance of magnesium alloy sacrificial anodes simulating their long-term exposure to an environment filled with gypsum bentonite sodium sulfate [its typical components are: gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O, 75%) + bentonite (20%) + sodium sulfate (5%)] in a saturated calcium sulfate and magnesium hydroxide electrolyte.
1.3 This standard aims to determine the electrochemical performance of magnesium alloy sacrificial anodes for quality assurance between suppliers and customers. However, the long-term performance in the field may not be equivalent to the performance characteristics obtained by this laboratory test method.
