Scope

This document describes a method for determining the content of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (T501) and 2,4-dimethyl-6-tert-butylphenol in jet fuels by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
This document provides two methods: Method A (HPLC-UV detection) and Method B (LC-MS). Method A is suitable for determining the content of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (T501) and 2,4-dimethyl-6-tert-butylphenol in hydrocracked jet fuels, with a measurement range of 4.0 mg/L to 40.0 mg/L for 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (T501) and 5.0 mg/L to 40.0 mg/L for 2,4-dimethyl-6-tert-butylphenol; Method B is suitable for determining the content of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (T501) in hydrocracked and hydro-refined jet fuels, with a measurement range of 3.5 mg/L to 50.0 mg/L.
