Scope

This part specifies the relevant safety requirements for the structure, transportation, installation, commissioning, setting, teaching or process conversion, operation, cleaning, maintenance, scrapping, and disassembly of trimming machines, edge trimming machines, and cutting machines. This part includes all major hazards, dangerous states, and dangerous events related to the machines within the scope of this part that may arise from the operator's intended use of the machines and foreseeable misuse. This part applies to trimming machines, edge trimming machines, and cutting machines used for material processing in the footwear industry. This part does not apply to: -- edge trimming machines that use rotary milling tools for material trimming; -- splitting machines used in the tanning industry; -- portable machines.
