Scope

This standard introduces a method for measuring the dielectric loss factor tanδ of insulating liquids. This method obtains tanδ by simultaneously measuring the electrical conductivity G and capacitance C and then converting the results. This standard is applicable to unused insulating liquids and insulating liquids used in operating transformers or other electrical equipment. Although this standard is applicable to all liquids mentioned in GB/T 5654—2007, even high-insulation performance liquids, it does not replace GB/T 5654—2007. This method can accurately measure dielectric loss factors as small as 10-6 under power frequency, with a measurement range of 10-6 to 1. Under special conditions, it can reach 200.
