Scope

1.1 This standard applies to all types of electrical equipment with an AC rated voltage of less than 1,200 V and a DC rated voltage of less than 1,500 V. These electrical equipment include:
——Electrical equipment used, contacted, or directly operated by non-professional personnel for their intended purposes;
——Electrical equipment applied to electrical work sites or enclosed electrical work sites according to their structural types or functions, mainly or entirely operated by professionals or those who have received basic training.
1.2 Electrical equipment designed, manufactured, sold, and used within the territory of the People's Republic of China must comply with this standard. Exported products may be implemented in accordance with the contractual agreements.
1.3 This standard specifies the common safety technical requirements for electrical equipment during their design, manufacture, sale, and use. It is used for:
——Providing a structural basis for the safety technical content of all types of electrical products;
——Preliminarily evaluating the safety level of electrical products without professional safety standards;
——Providing a technical foundation for the design, manufacture, sale, and use of electrical equipment.
