Scope

This standard specifies the composition and structure, requirements, test methods, marking and user manuals, packaging, transportation, and storage of medical personal protective systems (hereinafter referred to as protective systems).
This standard applies to medical personal protective systems used in operating rooms and during invasive procedures to provide isolation protection against splashes of potentially infectious body fluids, microorganisms, and particulate matter onto the bodies and heads and faces of operating room staff.
This standard does not apply to positive or negative pressure-sealed medical personal protective systems.
