Scope

Except for GB/T 42596.1—2023, this document specifies the safety technical requirements and measures that should be adopted for the design, manufacture, and supply of the following types of mechanical presses and mechanical press production systems:
a) Type 1: Presses using split-shaft clutches;
b) Type 2: Presses using servo drive systems (mechanical servo presses).
Note 1: The requirements in this document apply to these two types of mechanical presses. If a requirement only applies to one type of press, it needs to be specified.
Note 2: Other types of electric drive systems provide functions similar to those commonly referred to as "servo drive" or "servo motor", so in the terminology used in this document, their uses are considered the same (for example, variable frequency drive systems).
This document applies to mechanical presses, with a capacity range from small high-speed presses for single-operator production of small workpieces to large slow-speed presses for multiple operators and the production of large complex workpieces.
This document addresses all major hazards related to mechanical presses and auxiliary equipment (such as moving die air cushions, workpiece ejectors, and feeding and transfer systems) under the intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse conditions (see Chapter 4). Taking into account all stages of the press lifecycle as specified in GB/T 15706—2012.
Note 3: All major hazards refer to those identified at the time of this document's publication or hazards related to presses.
This document does not apply to the following machines, except for those not included in GB/T 42596.1—2023:
a) Machines that transfer energy through hydraulic or pneumatic devices to move the press slider.
b) Machines with two or more sliders moving in different angular directions.
Note 4: This document applies to presses with two or more sliders moving in the same angular direction, suc
