Scope

This document specifies the safety technical requirements and measures that presses used for metal cold processing or partial non-metal cold processing should adopt in their design, manufacture, and supply.
This document is applicable to presses that operate independently, and it can also serve as a design guide for presses integrated into manufacturing systems.
This document is applicable to presses that transfer force mechanically and cut, shape, or process cold metal or other sheet materials using a connected upper or lower die, or a slide. These presses range from small high-speed machine tools used by a single operator to produce small-sized workpieces to large slow-speed machine tools used by multiple operators to produce large-sized workpieces.
