Scope

This part is applicable to composite insulator string components for AC overhead lines with a nominal voltage higher than 1,000 V and a frequency not exceeding 100 Hz. It is also applicable to insulators of similar design used in substations or power traction lines. The purpose of this part is to specify the nominal values of the mechanical characteristics of composite insulator string components and the main dimensions used in connecting composite insulator string components, so that the insulators or end fittings provided by different manufacturers can be assembled and interchanged. This part also specifies the standard connection symbol representation method for composite insulator string components.
