Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 39560 describes the methods of AAS, AFS, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS for determining lead, cadmium, and chromium in polymers, metals, and electronic components.
This part specifies the determination of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and chromium (Cr) in electronic and electrical products. It covers three types of matrices: polymers/polymer components, metals and alloys, and electronic components.
In this part, samples refer to the objects processed and detected. The samples and the methods of obtaining them are determined by the institutions conducting the detection. For the detection of the content of restricted substances in electronic products, further guidelines on how to obtain representative samples from them can be found in IEC 62321-2. The selection and/or determination of samples may affect the interpretation of the detection results.
This part specifies the methods of determining the content of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and chromium (Cr) in electronic and electrical products, introducing the detection methods of four instruments (AAS, AFS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS) and several sample chemical pretreatment methods (preparation of sample solutions), from which the most suitable method can be selected.
Since hexavalent chromium in polymers and electronic components is sometimes difficult to determine, this part describes the screening methods of chromium in polymers and electronic components except AFS. Chromium analysis can provide information on whether hexavalent chromium exists in the material. However, elemental analysis cannot selectively determine hexavalent chromium; it measures the total chromium content in the sample. If the total chromium content exceeds the limit of hexavalent chromium, a confirmation test for hexavalent chromium should be conducted.
The ICP-OES and AAS methods described in this part can obtain the best accuracy and precision when determining the content of Pb, Cd, and Cr higher than 10 mg/kg; or the ICP-MS
