Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 39560 describes two standard methods and two reference methods for determining dibutyl phthalate (DIBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DNOP), dibutyl phthalate (DINP), and dibutyl phthalate (DIDP) in polymers of electronic and electrical products.
The standard methods in this part are gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with thermal desorption/thermal decomposition (Py/TD-GC-MS).
The GC-MS method is the standard method for quantitatively determining DIBP, DBP, BBP, DEHP, DNOP, DINP, and DIDP, with a measurement range of 50 mg/kg to 2,000 mg/kg.
The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with thermal desorption/thermal decomposition (Py/TD-GC-MS) is suitable for screening and semi-quantitative analysis of DIBP, DBP, BBP, DEHP, DNOP, DINP, and DIDP in polymer materials of electronic and electrical products, with a measurement range of 100 mg/kg to 2,000 mg/kg.
Ion attachment mass spectrometry (IAMS) is suitable for screening and semi-quantitative analysis of DIBP, DBP, BBP, DEHP, DNOP, DINP, and DIDP. See Appendix A. Due to the limitations of mass spectrometry peak resolution, the methods for determining DBP and DIBP, DEHP, and DNOP by IAMS have not yet been determined.
Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is limited to the determination of BBP, DEHP, DNOP, DINP, and DIDP, as described in Appendix B. Due to the limitations of mass spectrometry peak resolution, the methods for determining DBP and DIBP by LC-MS have not yet been determined.
The flowcharts provided in Appendix C describe how to use the two standard methods: Py/TD-GC-MS and GC-MS, and how to use the two reference methods: direct injection (DIP) - ion attachment mass spectrometry (IAMS) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).
These four test methods have been evaluated by testing polyethylene (PE) and p
