GB/T 18851.1-2024 Non-destructive testing—Penetrant testing—Part 1:General principles
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the penetration testing method for detecting surface discontinuities (such as cracks, overlay, folds, pores, and non-fusion) on materials using white light or ultraviolet light (UV-A, with a center wavelength of 365 nm). This method is primarily used for metal materials, but it can also be applied to other non-porous materials that are inert to penetration materials (such as castings, forgings, welded parts, ceramics, etc.).
This document specifies the testing process and control requirements, but does not include acceptance criteria. It does not address the applicability of individual detection systems or the requirements for detection equipment.
Note 1: For methods of determining and monitoring the basic performance of penetration testing products, see ISO 3452-2 and ISO 3452-3.
Note 2: The term "discontinuity" used in this document includes all displays that have not undergone acceptable or unacceptable acceptance assessments.
Note 3: CEN/TR 16638 provides a method for penetration testing using photochemical blue light.
