GB/T 44808.4-2024 Ergonomics—Accessible design—Part 4:A method for estimating minimum legible font size for people at any age
Basic Information
Scope
This document describes a method for estimating the minimum recognizable size of individual characters (rather than words or sentences) used in documents, product labels, logos, and displays under different viewing distances, brightness, and contrast conditions for people of different ages, whether in self-illuminating or reflective modes.
This document is applicable to the design and evaluation of the recognizability of individual characters for people of any age without eye diseases, but not for people with visual impairments (such as low vision). The application of this document is particularly aimed at, but not limited to, printed materials using fixed font sizes.
Note: Appendix F provides examples of the application of this method to non-alphabetic characters.
