Scope

This standard specifies the method of enzymatic determination of cis, cis-1,4-diene-structured polyunsaturated fatty acids in animal and plant oils, which actually refers to the series of linoleic acid (9,12-octadecadienoic acid) and linolenic acid (9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid) with ω3 and ω6 polyunsaturated structures. Their structures are as follows:
This standard is not applicable to the determination of ω8 and ω9 polyunsaturated fatty acids in oils and those containing branched-chain fatty acids.
